For years my insurance has been spiking. My cars have gotten older and we've added more (multi-car?), and the rates keep jumping every six months. As my annual payments approach $6000 I went shopping elsewhere. I asked an All State agent why her quote was so high and she told me that a claim was made against my son two years earlier. Not only was the accident determined by the police to be a 50/50 fault situation, but I never received any written notification from State Farm about the claim. Evidently, someone from State Farm Claims called my son, asked what happened, and overruled the determination of the police, placing an accident claim on our CLUE report. So, they spiked my rates JUST BELOW what the market would offer elsewhere. Mr Cawley at State Farm never told me about the claim, and never researched it after my written complaints about my rapidly rising rates. All he would tell me is to "take a defensive driving course." I now have an outstanding complaint filed with the New York Department of Financial Services. In my opinion, this is criminal. I can't wait to get this rectified and move on to an honest insurer.
